The Plug Review (Barcelona)

The Plug Review (Barcelona)
Although The Plug coffeeshop in Amsterdam is one of the newest on the Dutch scene, I've been hearing the name of this Barcelona social club for what feels like forever. Located on Montjuïc, about a 5 minute walk from the nearest metro line, The Plug is owned by renowned UK rapper Jack the Plug, who has been a busy boy this past year. Jack and his club have been doing big things for UK hip-hop through his record label The Plug Records. Tourists are welcome to this club if you can find an invite, but only if you are over 21 (sorry lads!).

Dope Vibes

Even though it has two floors, The Plug isn’t a huge club. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in cool. It’s like a green room in a dope Atlanta nightclub. Once you pass the reception area, a stairway brings you straight down to the dispensary. Just to the right of the dispensary is a huge mural of various musicians, including Post Malone and Barcelona’s very own Rosalia. Pass the wall of fame, and you find the lounge area. Dark couches line the walls and the lighting is low. There's a large bar, and a stairwell that leads to the upstairs area where there's a pool table and more seating.

Is Too Much Weed a Thing?

Variety is a good thing, but when it comes to selecting flowers, I feel like it can almost be a hassle. I didn’t count, but I'm guessing there were over 60 strains of weed on The Plug's menu, and I could only recognize about 10 of them. I wanted to smell them all, but there was a line forming, so I opted for a recommendation from the budtender, and took a G of Lemon Tree and another G of really nice Orange Bud. Overall, I have to say, music and weed make for a lovely duo, and The Plug is just what I thought a rapper's club would look like.
