Pizza Pusha Review

Pizza Pusha Review
I've been hearing a lot about the Pizza Pusha (aka Chris Barrett) and his Stoned Pizza. I first saw him on instagram and now it seems as if everywhere I look this guy pops up talking about his cannabis infused pizza business. This kind of story might seem normal in Vice Munchies, but even Metro NY ran a mouth-watering front page photo of a Stoned Pizza! I gotta give it to him, he is bold. Our politicians in the tristate area have been really slow at putting through legislation to legalize marijuana. The Pizza Pusha is not a man that will sit around waiting. So far it appears to be paying off for him. While the cannabis industry may still be operating in a grey area, it is no doubt a thriving sector of the economy and the weed pizza business is booming! Enough drooling over the weed/food-porn, this week I finally got around to ordering a couple of Stoned pizza pies, and they were great! Not only will this pizza get you high, but it actually stands on its own as an excellent Sicilian style pie. The Pizza Pusha delivers in all five boroughs of New York City, as well as some parts of Long Island and most of New Jersey. Anyone can order! Just follow @pizzapusha on Instagram and send a direct message to request a menu. Or go to the website https://iamthepizzapusha.com/ and click on "order now." It took me a little while to figure out how to place my first order but once I got the system down it was easy and reliable! They are open from noon to midnight seven days a week. The minimum order varies depending on how far they have to travel to reach you. In my part of Brooklyn the minimum is $150. The ordering and delivery process usually takes two to three hours from start to finish, and it requires multiple texts so keep your phone on! To meet the $150 minimum I needed to order more than just one $55 pizza, but that wasn’t a problem. The menu is extensive and includes everything that you would expect to see at your local slice shop as well as pre-rolled joints and eighths of flower. The portions are all large, and the dose is generous so you will want to invite some friends over and share. First out of the bag we sampled the sodas. They come in 4 different flavors and cost $5 each. If you want a sugar rush with your high go for the Grape Ape. The Sour Sprite is on the dry side, and lets the herbal tonic notes of the infusion shine. Orange Kush brings back memories of childhood and the Canna Cola is the perfect trifecta of sugar, weed, and caffeine. All sodas are 16 ounces and labeled as having 20 mg of thc. I recommend that you drink them right away because they will go flat faster than a normal sealed soda bottle. For an appetizer, garlic knots are a pizza shop staple. Stoned makes a version called Ganja Knots. Maybe you're seeing a pattern here? It’s a real NYC pizza shop that puts cannabis in everything. Their knots are pretty standard. These chewy, doughy snacks cost $15 for an order of 6 and have 100 mg of thc. Now, on to the main event. The $55 Pepperoni Haze pizza pie comes in a cool box with a big green ganja leaf on it. Show up to the party with a Stoned pizza box and I guarantee that you will be popular. The box is professionally made and properly labeled. Inside, the pizza looks beautiful and it comes garnished with fresh basil, but I'm not sure exactly where the weed is? For some reason I had a fantasy of whole buds baked into the cheese like little green meatballs. Since there is no visible sign of the buds I will assume that it is made with thc infused oil. Enough analyzing the presentation, lets dig in. This is good pizza. Really good pizza! A rustic, thick, hand made Sicilian style half sheet pan cut into eight square slices. The sauce is good and the cheese is still melted. Most importantly the Pizza Pusha is able to deliver his product freshly made and still piping hot. That's impressive. Be careful with this pizza! Each slice is labeled as having 40 mg of thc. That is a dangerous amount to put in a pizza that tastes so good. I could have easily eaten half of the pie, but I had to stop myself after my first slice. I took a break to let the high settle in. There is always a bit of a waiting game with edibles and for some reason the high seems to take longer than usual with the Stoned pizza. After an hour or so I started to feel a strong buzz. I'm not entirely convinced that each slice actually contains 40 mg of thc. One slice did not get me noticeably more stoned than my usual 10 mg gummy, but that wasn’t such a bad thing because I really wanted another slice. I ate a second one and I was all set. Depending on your tolerance, one slice might be enough. The second pizza that I ordered a few days later was more potent. Maybe my high was influenced by how I was feeling that day? Maybe there was some other factor in play, but I would also expect some natural inconsistency in the measurement since the pizza comes from a kitchen not a laboratory. Every pizza afficionado knows that no two slices are identical. With my first pizza delivery I ordered a dozen Girl Scout Cookies. I do have to say that the packaging on the cookies was not impressive and there was no information printed on the box. After two slices of pizza and a puff off of the pre-roll, my appetite was satisfied so I put the cookies away for safe keeping. The next morning I had one with breakfast. After an hour or so I still wasn’t feeling anything so I downed two more before heading out of the house. The thing with edibles is that the high will really creep up on you. 30 minutes later (an hour and a half after my first cookie) I was walking down Flatbush Avenue stoned out of my mind. Lesson learned, eat one cookie at a time and wait an hour before the next one. With my second delivery I ordered the $50 Medical Margarita. Again, the pizza arrived hot and it tasted fantastic! On this occasion I finished my meal with a scoop of Stoned gelato. A pint of the Mascalpone Straccialleta cost $25 and contains 150 mg of THC. The gelato was perfectly light and creamy with small flakes of chocolate and a pleasant herbal aroma reminiscent of mint chocolate chip, but unmistakably marijuana. I should mention that the pre-rolled joints are also quite good. Expertly rolled and perfectly packed, they burn slow and evenly. Overall, the Pizza Pusha delivers excellent products and I highly recommend ordering. The value is also very good. If you share a $50 pie with three friends and each have two slices, you split the check four ways and that comes out to $12.50 each. Instagram: @pizzapusha Website: https://iamthepizzapusha.com/
