In mid-December 2019, New Jersey voted 49-24 to add recreational cannabis to the state's 2020 ballot. The ballot question will ask New Jersey citizens if they approve of recreational cannabis use for people ages 21 and over. The state will issue a 6.625% sales tax with the option for towns within the state to pass a tax of their own. If New Jersey approves the ballot question, they will become the 11th state, along with D.C., to legalize recreational cannabis. Here's hoping we have another ally on the way to cannabis justice!
