Nestled in the heart of the Sants neighborhood, just a 5-minute walk from the Barcelona Sants train station, Hash Cannabis Club is one of those “a little bit of everything” hole-in-the-wall places that you don’t want to miss.
The club goes by a few names, which adds to its mystique. The website says Hash Cannabis Club, but on Instagram it’s Blunted Social Club, a.k.a. Hermetika Club.
When my friend and I arrive at the joint, I see there’s no sign on the door. This is usually a trigger for me to run. Low-key establishments are a no-no for me, but my friend swears to me that I’m gonna enjoy myself.
We ring the doorbell, and the glass door slides open. A smiling receptionist exchanges pleasantries with my friend, and we begin the registration process. The receptionist clearly explains the rules and regulations of the club in English and buzzes us in.
At first glance, the spot seems small. The terpinolene is so heavy in the air, my brain twitches. Edison bulbs in brass fixtures and dark wood illuminate the space. Schoolboy Q is playing in the background. Two big-screen TVs are playing muted documentaries at either end of the downstairs chill area. There’s a heated game of chess going on at the bar, both guys talkin’ hella smack back and forth. This is my kinda place: it isn’t the Ritz-Carlton, but it’s comfy.
The dispensary is on the first floor. The menu is hand-written, with about 20 strains on it, mostly sativas. There are like 7 different Hazes, which is mind-blowing. I’ve never seen this many Hazes all together before.
Donations for flower range from 6€ to 12€ a gram for locally grown strains, and exotics are about 30€ a gram. The hash menu is short and sweet: 5 strains of dry sift hash ranging from 8€ to 13€ a gram. The extract “menu” has one lonely Lemon OG Wax on it. The budtender is a sweetheart. She walks me through the menu and tells me that, though they specialize in Amnesia Hy-Pro, her favorite is Strawberry Haze.
The upstairs is spacious, with locals and tourists hanging out on IKEA couches. In one corner, some Spanish kids are playing FIFA 20 on PlayStation, and in another, two English guys are having a deep conversation about aliens and other conspiracies. There's a pool table, and an arcade machine with like 300 games (love me some Street Fighter 2). This club has a very cool vibe, and is a great place to make friends.
