When it comes to dope stoner foods, nachos are always the first thing that comes to my mind. Crispy, tangy, and savory, this Tex-Mex delight is a great way to feed a squad — but keep your eye on the guy that doesn’t follow the "puff, puff, pass" rule. He’s the guy that quotes Saving Silverman: “Dude, if you get the nachos stuck together, it's ONE nacho.” Fuck that guy.
Anyway, nachos are great! And if you're looking for the absolute best nachos in BCN after a smoke sesh, we'd like to recommend these top three nacho-tastic spots to satisfy your stoned cravings.
El Pachuco
Carrer de Sant Pau, 110, 08001
El Pachuco’s nachos are, to me, the winners of this Stoner Foods edition. Homemade totopos (nacho chips), pico de gallo, jalapeños, sour cream, beans, cheese, and the most savory tinga (shredded slow-cooked chicken stew) I’ve ever tasted. You can opt for the extra bean option if you are veggie. These nachos are guaranteed to kill appetites and cottonmouth in one shot.
Note: Be aware, the staff at El Pachuco will not be nice to you if you are not nice to them, so if they ask you to wait, wait. It will be well worth it — and you may even get a shot of tequila (or 10 depending on how cool you are) out of it.
Surf House BCN
Carrer de l'Almirall Aixada, 22, 08003
Located right on Barceloneta Beach, Surf House boasts a prime spot for a snack after a day of getting high at the beach. The Cali-influenced menu definitely has lots of healthy options, but we aren’t here to talk avocado toasts or chia yogurts. Two cheese, frijoles, jalapeños, sour cream, pico de gallo, Mexican hot sauce, and guacamole (+ €2.80 to add beef) make for a solid nacho plate, but the location is what puts SHB into second place.
Note: Also helping push SHB’s nachos into second place: the activities. Spend €15 per person, and SHB will lend you a paddleboard for an hour! Just make sure that you wait an hour after you eat to use the voucher.
The Box
Carrer d'en Gignàs, 30, 08002
Cheese, pico de gallo, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and either a savory pulled pork or smoky beef option are what a body needs when a nacho craving comes on, and The Box delivers. Although I wouldn’t consider it a nacho spot, The Box holds its own when it comes to totopos. The place boasts the best hotdogs in town, but I place them in the top 3 for this nacho list.
Note: The Box has a huge macerated rum menu. Jars of many different flavors of rum line the walls at this place, so take your time, and try a chocolate-banana infused rum while you polish off your nachos.
